Michael ‘Mike’ Sullivan Holder, born December 10, 1960, in Louisville, KY, was a devoted English teacher whose passion for literature and education touched the lives of many. Graduating with a master’s degree in English from Morehead State University, Mike dedicated over 25 years to teaching middle and high school Language Arts, inspiring thousands of students with his love for language.
Mike’s career was distinguished by his role as a Writing Resource Teacher for the Kentucky Writing Program and the Kentucky Department of Education, where he supported numerous teachers in enhancing their writing instruction. A highlight of his career was being selected for the Toyota International Teachers Program, where he served as a Kentucky ambassador in Japan, learning about education, culture, and environmental efforts.
Beyond his professional achievements, Mike was known as a gentle soul with a big heart, a lover of great literature and poetry, and an enthusiastic dancer. He supported drama at local high schools and the Lewis County Theatre Guild and cherished his family deeply.
